Hello World
Born in Kuwait, part Canadian, part Mexican, fully Indian, and having lived in many a crib, this kid is from nowhere and everywhere. Most recently, San Francisco, Mexico City and Toronto. NAFTA up in here. HELLO WORLD is AMIT's much awaited release, after his 'Asymetric' EP launch in 2006.
"My roots are in electronic music, but shortly after releasing my EP, I got bored of the same ol' same ol' and started looking for something else. I listened to a lot of music from the sixties. Got into the culture, ideas, politics, and music of the amazing decade, and crawled into big-picture-thinking land. With much relevance to now, the sixties offers much insight in the current state of affairs. As a civilization, where the hell are we going? Inspired by them olskool sounds, I pushed off into the 123's of self-discovery by revisiting my childhood, and creating from an innocent yet naughty place."
Bringing it back to basics, 'HELLO WORLD' is about happyism and idealism set in a forgetting world. The story of you, as a kid, right now.
Last Friday at (le) Posson Rouge, The MuseBox put together an incredible event for up-and-coming Toronto indie-pop act, AMIT. Teaming up with Art Battles and DJ Teenwolf, the event became more than just a typical show for a largely unknown artist.
