Edmonton, Alberta trio AUDIO PLAYGROUND is looking for a little respect, and after reaching #1 on the iTunes Dance Charts, tracking top sellers in the genre such as David Guetta, Tiesto and Madonna, within days of the release of their new single “(A Little) Respect, we think they deserve it! “(A Little) Respect”, a cover of the 1988 megahit by Erasure, was released on the band’s latestEP, which hit digital stores August 4th on CanWest MusicWorks.
“(A Little) Respect” also hit #1 on the Nielsen Soundscan singles chart and stayed there for four straight weeks, ahead of superstars Madonna, Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga and U2!
AUDIO PLAYGROUND is the latest collaboration between Edmonton producers Rubix & DRC and singer Anthony Gitto. After a long stint remixing hit records for other artists across the country, AUDIO PLAYGROUND plunged to the forefront of rhythmic radio and the dance club scene with their super-catchy, chart smashing debut single "(A Little) Respect” earlier this month.
Alongside top-notch vocals by Gitto, the EP includes thirteen mutli-format club and radio mixes: the chart-topping, rhythm radio and club mixes by Klubjumpers, Mike Rizzo's "Funk Generation”, electro and party mixes by Lenny Douglas and Randy Weber-Taylor; and classic breaks taken to the fullest on the "After Dark" mix by New York powerhouse Carlos Berrios. Hard House, urban and ballad versions are also included in the release.
"It's a fantastic record, a hit for New York, London and the world," says Gary Salzman, the band's stateside manager, whose roster includes David Guetta with Chris Willis, Tony Moran and Kaci Battaglia. The band is preparing for a promotional tour in the USA as mounting momentum from major market DJ's and mix show outlets are replicating its current success in Canada.
"(A Little) Respect" is rocking dance floors right now, preparing the world for what Audio Playground is about to bring to the airwaves in the coming months!
