Black Diamond Bay is: Formerly of The Dears' Patrick Krief (Guitar and Vocals), George Donoso III (drums), as well as friends Roberto Piccioni (keys), and Andre Bendahan (bass). Black Diamond Bay formed after Patrick recorded his 7 song solo EP (Take it Or Leave It), which was released August 2007 by Sunny Lane Records. The band played many shows throughout the year under their previous name Krief. Besides playing in their hometown Montreal, they have also played numerous shows in such cities as Toronto, New York, Hoboken, Boston, Nashville, Mexico City, Guadelajra and festivals such as Osheaga, Indio Fest, NXNE, Pop Montreal, M for Montreal, and South by Southwest (Austin, Texas). As well as being recently invited to play the Great Escape (Brighton,UK). They also were invited to play Noonderzon and desBeschaving festivals in Holland at the end of August. The band has also played Live at the Verge (XM radio) and London Café (CKUT) and several college radio sessions in Mexico, all of which the Black Diamond Bay is enjoying regular rotation on.
After over a hundred shows together, the band has developed a live dynamic that brings an explosive element to the music. They've been fortunate enough to capture this synergy on their recently tracked album. The record is also complemented by some fantastic guest musicians (Violins, Cellos, Horns (Liam O’Neil (The Stills) Evan Cranley (Broken Social Scene and Stars, etc…) which helps give more diversity to the album without losing its uniformity.
If you didn't get a chance to see Patrick Krief of The Dears with his new band Black Diamond Bay, then you should probably go ahead and kick yourself really hard.
