Reckless Sons

Reckless Sons, a New York City based act, is getting recognition for bringing back true American rock and roll. Over the past two years RECKLESS SONS honed its chops in NYC’s lower east side and by running up and down the eastern seaboard in rental vans for gigs and parties, they have even done a 6 week tour of the UK in the summer of 08.

Matt Butler, the lead singer, writes lyrics that deliver a sense of youth and rebellion in a style said to be similar to Bruce Springsteen meets Paul Westerberg Austin Schumacher hits the drums hard, laying down the powerful background for Tony Stella’s expressive guitar solos, and Jacob Sloan’s hipper-than-now baselines hold down the wild energy of the set. Reckless Sons forceful live shows bring-forth a passion of sweaty rock and roll that makes you dance and your fists shake. Fans have described the band as “The Rolling Stones meet The Replacements.”

In the summer of 2007, Austin Texas rock guru Paul Soroski (Podunk, The Artillery) invited the band down to play the hard rock festival associated with SxSw called the Quadruple Bypass festival. Thereafter, the boys went back down to Austin and recorded much of their new EP with Paul. The band returned to NYC and had the album mixed by rock music producer Rob Fraboni (Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan). The EP entitled “Don’t You Dare” was self released in July of 2008 and is now digitally distributed through Tunecore.

The summer of 2008 was packed for the “Sons”; they did a southeast US tour with stops in Washington D.C., Richmond VA and Charleston South Carolina, and then went to the UK for a tour with 23 dates throughout the country. The guys were welcomed thoroughly by the Brits; they had a blast playing the pubs and brick-lane’s of the UK. The Sons did so well they were invited to end the tour with a main-stage appearance at Brighton’s The Beachdown festival.

Upon the Sons return to the US they released their first video entitled “Blood” featuring Penthouse playmates Justine Joli and Krista-Ayne as vampire lesbians. Recently the “Sons’” were selected to the top 30 bands out of 1700 bands in the “Guitar Center/ Motley Crue touring competition”, for which they were flown out to LA for an appearance at the Sunset Strip store.

The band is currently developing touring opportunities in the US, and has recorded a new EP slated for release in May for the summer touring season. It’s RECKLESS SONS time in 09.
