The Volunteers are served straight up in the single malt blend that is New York City. A band led by songwriter/producer Dan Goddard, The Volunteers have toured North America, while gaining homegrown critical acclaim (The Onion, The Deli, New York Waste, Jersey Beat) along with a burgeoning fan base. With diverse production and musicianship contributions from the likes of Paul Mahajan (Yeah Yeah, Yeahs, TV on the Radio, The National), Stuart Bogie (Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra), and and Clint Steele (The Swans), Spectrophilia stands out as a unique record with a cavalier sound. You can’t go wrong with that.
Now I present to you Dan Goddard, the producer. For the past decade, Dan has worked with legendary producer Michael Wagener (Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, X) and Jared Kotler (Marcy Playground) before opening Monsterland Studio in Brooklyn during 2002. Monsterland has hosted other producers who have brought in great bands, such as Paul Mahajan (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the National, TV on the Radio) Jamey Staub (Luscious Jackson, Public Enemy, Cibo Matto) Steve Mac (Brand New).
Recommended if you like: Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, Ween, The Dead Milkmen, The Toadies.
