The Mynabirds are a collective of musicians fronted by singer-songwriter and activist Laura Burhenn. Their debut album “What We Lose in the Fire We Gain in the Flood,” was released under the renowned indie label Saddle Creek to tons of critical acclaim. Their sophomore album GENERALS (whose name comes from the Richard Avedon photo “Generals of the Daughters of the American Revolution“) will be released in a few short weeks on June 5th.
This band is EXTREMELY buzzed about, and are on the way to some big things. Have a listen – we feel like you’ll really dig their retro-indie sound. Laura’s voice is one of the best we’ve heard in recent memory.
Tonight is her art gallery opening at Think Coffee on Bleeker Street here in NYC. Come out to see some of her original artwork, starting at 8pm. And to hear her musical talents, head to Joe’s Pub this Saturday for the release of her highly-anticipated 10th studio album, “Haunted by You,” a song cycle about passion, featuring guitar and piano-based tunes both penned and performed by Rachael.
